Oh my!! The cinnamon sugary-glaze taste from your favorite Honey Bun snack but now in a cake!
I’m going to come right out and admit it: I did NOT like Honey Buns as a child.
If my dad or grandparents asked me what type of sweet treat I wanted from the store I would pick oatmeal cookies, devils food cake, chips, ice cream anything but a Honey Bun snack cake.
The reason I did not like Honey Buns was the greasy coating they left on the roof of my mouth!! I liked loved any type of sweet but when I was done eating the treat, I did not want a funny feeling left in my mouth!! I guess I’m just strange (or can anyone else relate?)
Since I am always on the look out for new, different and delicious recipes that I can convert to gluten free, when my aunt told me about a Honey Bun cake recipe that was to die for, my thoughts were uh huh, yeah right.
She went on and on about how easy it was to make and what a hit it was. That sweet moist cake topped with cinnamon sugar swirl was so doggone good, according to her.
I had a few non gluten free family members who volunteered to sacrifice themselves as guinea pigs to try this Honey Bun cake my aunt had made.
Honey, the look on their faces, the closed eyes and umm umm and may I have just one more piece to make sure I evaluate this correctly? convinced me this cake would be a winner.
I copied her super easy recipe, made it with gluten free cake mix and the rest is shear Honey Bun cake heaven!
This cake is moist, full of rich flavor and that cinnamon sugar topping is what makes this cake a 5 star in my book. I had to hide this cake to be able to make pictures it was so good.
If you are looking for a moist, sweet easy cake to make that will be a hit with your family and friends, look no further!
And yes, I have thanked my aunt profusely for sharing this great cake with me.
