Mix all ingredients by hand or in mixer with flat blade until well combined.
Shape into 1 inch balls, I used a melon ball scooper, and place in heated, simmering barbecue sauce. Coat in sauce by turning frequently, cook about 20 minutes or until done.
Sauce
Cook onions and peppers until tender in 1 Tbsp oil in a heavy saucepan. Add remaining ingredients, mix well and cook over a medium heat for 10 minutes and then reduce heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes. *** This can be made ahead so if not using now, cool mixture to room temperature and then store in a covered container in refrigerator until needed. Yields 2 cups.***
