Cranberry Pear Sauce

Cranberries taken to a whole new level. Tartness combined with just the right amount of sweetness that sets this Cranberry Pear Sauce apart!

So we’re headed into the season where foodies can legally go crazy with cooking and not be thought of as having totally lost it!!

I don’t have people asking me why I am cooking 3-4 dishes daily, they know I am the great experimenter and I am doing research. (Yeah, it sounds good, doesn’t it?)

Cranberry Pear Sauce

Truly, I love to try new recipes and it just seems much easier around the Thanksgiving season.

Enter Cranberry Pear Sauce.

As a child, I had a great-great aunt who always made a gelatin cranberry dish that was really good, but with her passing several years ago, we had to come up with a cranberry dish.  No, opening a can of cranberry sauce does NOT count.

I took up the challenge to find a delicious, easy cranberry dish that would be unique.  Once again to the family cookbooks, library, google; searching for the one recipe that jumped up and said “You gotta make me!!”  Had a couple of close calls, but finally found THE one that fit my requirements: easy, delicious, memorable, easy, “oh, will you please make this again….soon?”, easy, contains fresh, non processed ingredients and of course, EASY!

This dish has it all: the tartness of cranberries, balanced by the sweet pear, enhanced by the orange zest and apple juice!  A fresh fruit bonanza and it tastes so good!! The perfect compliment to turkey and dressing.

Cranberries are such a versatile food. Sauces, drinks, dried fruit goodness and bonus of bonus: Fresh cranberries can be frozen,  will keep up to nine months and  they can be used directly in recipes without thawing!  So you better believe, I am going to load up on these babies and make cranberry deliciousness on into the spring and summer!
